The Bong Master attended LIU Southampton in 1984, where he was a Business Marketing student. He would attend parties where people would play drinking games. It seemed to him that the games ended up with one person or many getting way too drunk. It didn’t seem like fun. The Bong Master was a consumer of cannabis and wanted a party game for those who enjoyed cannabis, too.
One night, a friend walked into his room. He asked if we could roll a bong, but I’m sure he meant to say either “let’s roll a joint or smoke a bong.” The Bong Master’s mind saw a board game, “Roll-a-Bong.” He quickly got out a large drawing pad and started laying out the game. It would be a track game like “Candyland” or “Chutes and Ladders,” but it would be geared for smoking bongs. The game was an instant hit!
The success of his game turned out to be a bad thing for his ganja supply. So, next came the idea of a community game where everyone contributes, and it really worked. Even the biggest boggarts contributed to the dish to play. The game was played dozens of times with a wide variety of people. It seemed to bring people together and allow everyone to smoke as much or as little as they wanted.
Several years after college, the Bong Master was hanging out his friends in Queens and he pulled out Roll-a-Bong out to play. The game had seen better days and was in need of updating. So he went to work again - this time on a 30” by 15” piece of thicker poster paper. He had people asking about the game again, wondering when he was going to play it. The game was a hit again. For years they played the game on special occasions or when friends came from out of town and wanted to play.
When cannabis was legalized in Colorado, the Bong Master knew what to do! It would be just like college, but now smoking pot was legal. Roll-a-Bong had come of age and now it was ready to be sold to the public. With thousands of new legal smokers each month, a ganja smoking game could really satisfy this new market. Roll-a-Bong is not just a cannabis smoking game, it’s a community building game that helps people get to know each other and have an entertaining time while smoking pot.
