If you watched TV in the late 70’s, you saw Welcome Back Kotter. It was a top-rated show. The show’s popularity inspired a bunch of merchandise from action figures to magazines. I came across a spectacular “Welcome Back Kotter” collectible when I bought my home from my father-in-law. I was gifted my wife’s and her three sister’s mountains of old crap.
The game had all it’s pieces and was carefully stored with the rest of my board games. There it sat for over a decade. Little did I know I could have lived out my “Sweat Hog” dreams and tell Principle Woodman to stick it ...”Up your nose with a rubber hose!” The game’s simple mechanics make it a game that is fun the very first time you play it. Each player picks a “Sweat Hog” and starts at their desk in the back of the classroom.
Dice are rolled and you begin your journey to the front of the class to collect the six needed cards to make the sentence “Up your nose with a rubber hose.” When you collect all the cards you go to the front of the class to pick up the rubber hose and you win the game. Along the way, there are “Mr. Kotter” and “Mr. Woodman” cards that give you special directions and instructions on movement. This game is a retro blast as you return to the past with Vinnie Barbarino and Mr. Kotter. Remember your dreams were your ticket out…
Return to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and attend James Buchanan High School to find the Rubber Hose with the rest of the “Sweat Hogs!”
